Attending Your First Class

Please call the instructor before turning up at class to let him know you will be attending.

We encourage people interested in starting Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu to participate in a class rather than just observe. Often in witnessing other more experienced people train we form an unnatural fear that we’ll be expected to do the same on our first lesson. This is not the case. Through participation you’ll quickly realise that the training is only as enthusiastic and physical as you want it to be. As a beginner you’ll be stepped through the basics and will be allowed to explore this great martial art at your own pace, developing when you feel ready. Peter White’s school teaching background and expertise in the Bujinkan facilitate this process for you. Participation is also the best way to get a feeling for the instructor, the training and the other people who make up the class. It is also a lot of fun!

No previous experience or knowledge is required before starting.

Prior to your first lesson, please arrive 10 minutes early and introduce yourself to the instructor. Your participation in class is subject to this discussion as it allows the instructor to understand your intentions, interests and expectations in participating. It will also allow the instructor to understand if you have any body ailments or conditions that have to be considered or may not allow you to participate.

Only students who agree to the Guidelines for Participation in the Bujinkan will be accepted.

What to wear

Please wear comfortable loose pants (like tracksuit pants) and a t-shirt. Due to the techniques practiced in class t-shirts can be ripped, so wear a t-shirt that you don’t care for. As a beginner training does start out very gently and this is very unlikely to occur but its better to be prepared.

Observing a Class

Please call the instructor before turning up at class to let him know you will be attending.

If you just want to observe a class please make sure you arrive before class starts, introduce yourself to the instructor and observe quietly. Save any questions until after the class has finished.

Membership

To practice Bujinkan on an ongoing basis you must be a member. Membership is not required immediately but once a person knows that they intend to continue their training they are expected to pay their membership. The membership fee also includes your gi (uniform).
